Caleb first day @ preschool

It's been a week since Caleb started his preschool and he loves it a lot.

We got him registered early this March but only started attending it this month. Why? I was thinking we might just need to prepare him for the 'BIG MILESTONE' in his life. I can't believe my baby is attending school. Oh......

We paid the up front fees when we got him registered. Kiasu ma.... as they said they have a limited place for each age category. What I like about this preschool they are using Montessori approach which I find to be very different from the normal conventional teaching method. In Montessori, they are based on hands on learning, collaborative play and self directed activity. Each material are created to support some aspect of a child's development so that they can learn through their own experience and own pace.

There are other reasons which did trigger me to enroll him:

1. Distance: it's only less than 2 minutes drive from home.

2. Max ratio 1 teacher:10 students. That's mean new student can have full attention from the teacher.

3. They provide 1 breakfast everyday at 10am. All meals are home cook food like home made kaya, cake, fried mee hoon without hot dogs and nuggets, home boiled barley water. All these are so healthy.

For the past 3 months, I've been chanting to his ear that he will be in school without mami and dadi. And he will have a lot of friends to play with and a lot of toys which he never seen before. School will have teachers to teach him songs and ABC and 123 which he likes most and mami will have to go home, cooking, bla bla bla and after that mami will come and fetch him and we all go home eat 'fan-fan' - rice. (Hooray! trying to make it as interesting as possible :))

These daily chanting really works because the first day he went to school, he was pretty excited. He jumped up from bed almost immediately at 7:30am when I mentioned "SCHOOL". Haha...

I just need to linger around for 45 minutes just to make sure he's ok, settling down before I bid him bye-bye. he didn't even look at me, hurried up his 'be-bye' and said yes when I told him I'm going back. Pheewwww......

Can't wait to take off shoes and go in.

Everybody drink water....

Another thing I like about this school is the teachers make them drink water as frequent as possible. Most of the time, Caleb tumbler left with 1/3 of water when he came back. :)

He took the mat ....

and begin to pay with 'toys'

And when I went to pick him up, he didn't want to go home! Ish, ish, ish.... The teacher-in-charge said after I went home, he didn't even mention where is his mami or dadi and ma ma.....

Hahaha.....I hope that his enthusiasm of going school do lasts for as long as it can be :)

I know that feeling, that our baby is growing up too fast. Caleb is in 3yo class? He is so independent for his age, most kids will cry... Good for him and you.
