Cuti-cuti Malaysia to Port Dickson & Malacca - Part II

I almost forgot to write up about our Cuti-cuti Malaysia, 2nd part where we heading to Malacca. Life is lazy busy with a cranky toddler and short-fused me. All the things I asked him to do often fall on deaf ears. Grrrrr...... is every toddler out there is like this? Haaaiii...

Okla, part 2, here it goes....

We reached Malacca about 1 hour plus after we departed from PD and with help from Waze, we managed to find the location of our hotel quite easily.

Yes, this is it. Arenaa De Luxe Boutique Hotel. Boutique hotel? What's that? Some hanky-panky stuffs?Haha...at first Jk was a bit skeptical with the name and the price. Well, I found out about this hotel when I searched online in asiarooms and really got hooked with the price. Just for a slightly more than RM100 for a nice room in a nice hotel with city center, jonker street just around the corner. Well, it stated on the website that we can reach within 5 minutes but didnt say anything about the type of transportation. By foot or by car? Mmmmm........

Anyway, upon reaching the hotel, we were relieved. The outlook is decent, not a ghost hotel or mmm...hanky panky hotel :)

Very artistic, very boutique-y, very...hrrrmmmm WEIRD. Hahaha....

Anyway, we checked in to our room and upon opening up the door.....deng deng deng.......the room is so freakingdamnwtf small to fit in 2 adult (with one looking like a whale) and 1 toddler. It's TINY!!

Goshhh.....basically there's no place to put our luggages and stuffs, a tiny wardrobe which never serve it purpose (dont even know why it exist in the first place), less than 20sqft space to walk around and we were trying so hard not pushing each other up the wall.

TV is mounted on the wall, by the way....

Wardrobe depth is only 8 inch and one hanger. You tell me, how to hang clothes like that?

There is one kettle, 2 cups and 2 bottles of mineral water.

Instant coffee sachet? What coffee?

Since the room is got limited spcae to roam around, he just settle in by watching lotsa Cartoon Network.

Ok, enough about the room. We rested for awhile before we went to jonker street to grab some lunch. At first, I wanted to try out the famous Chicken Rice Balls at Hoe Kee but too bad, it was under reconstruction and was closed for almost one week (one local shop owner told us that), so, we settled down for another shop for Chicken Ball Rice. It was a hot afternoon, super-freaking-damn HOT!! We were burned, starved and tired... Kesiannya....

There was not much left as by the time we settled down it was already past 3pm. I was really really hungry, so we just ordered a few dishes. A quarter roasted chicken, a plate of BBQ pork (char siew), a plate of bean sprouts and 6 pieces of rice ball. Jk feeling weird eating balls out from rice so he asked for a plate of normal rice.

Overall, the foods weren't really that remarkable. The roasted chicken and BBQ pork were a little dry for my liking. Well, I guess we can make a pass if we visit Malacca again.

We made a visit to East and West Rendezvous for Nyonya Cendol, instead of enduring insane-ly long queue at Jonker 88. It just ain't worth the time and the sweat and with cranky superbaby on tow? No way, thank you very much.

In fact I found this stall served a very good cendol too, especially with durian. Durian cendol. Really yum-yum. The sweetness was just right with generous helping of 100% pure gula Melaka and a dollop of real durian flesh.

The weather was soooo HOT! We really couldn't go anywhere else except to get back to the hotel to bath and switching on the air-con in full blast. Scorching hot sun. Can die, man! Just imagine yourself as a BBQ chicken or pork or whatever. ....

We went back to jonker for dinner a bit later that night as jk was still full. He said he can skipped dinner but with me and food-sucker in my tummy, how can?? Big one don't eat the small one also must eat la, right? So, we drove to jonker street again for some foods. As we walked through the crowds, we came to this restaurant.

Complimentary appetizer from Eleven which consists of pickled papaya and anchovies, taste wise a little bit of sweet, sour and spicy.

For main, we ordered a plate of Portuguese Style Fried Noodles (RM10), Portuguese Deep Fried Squids(RM15) and Butter Prawns (RM20). Foods were just so so, pretty normal, nothing to shout about.
We walked for a while but there was nothing special to buy or to eat. Stuffed to the max already :)

The next day, we came down to have breakfast in the hotel but nothing seems appealing. So, we decided to go to somewhere else for nice breakfast. With Google searching for 'nice breakfast in Melaka' and Waze, we ended up here.

....for their famous Taiwanese Porkchop Noodles.

It tasted alright. A lil hint of 5-spice powder in there and that's all I can remember. Pork chop was soft and tender and noodles just like any other pan mee's texture. Nothing's really special.

Went to Coral Wonderland at Dataran Pahlawan after breakfast just to kill time. Located at 4th floor, Coral Wonderland said to have the longest and largest LIFE coral aquarium in Malaysia and the longest touch pool in Asia where you can have a close up interaction and feel of the star fish, sea cucumber, sea urchin and even the bamboo shark. For me, I just touched whichever I feel is safe. Well, actually all are safe but me being 'kia si' ma.....haha

I think we spent almost 2h in there. It worth the experience if you haven't see a life corals and sturgeon before. Sturgeon....they are such a beautiful ancient creature and the fact that they already exist 200 millions year ago.

They are one of the oldest families of bony fish in existence and distinctive  for their elongated bodies, lack of scales, and occasional great size: sturgeons ranging from 7–12 feet (2-3½ m) in length are common, and some species grow up to 18 feet (5.5 m). The fact that several species of sturgeons are hunted for their roe, which is made into caviar — a luxury food which makes some sturgeons pound for the most valuable of all harvested fish and are currently considered to be at risk of extinction, making them more critically endangered than any other group of species

Next we moved on to Ming Satay Hut for their signature pork satay. Pork satay is quite a common food in Malacca but I haven't taste one before despite numerous time coming here.

Situated a few doors before Nadeje Patisserie and so we can kill two birds in one stone. Nice.... The pork satay was very well marinated and the sauce comes with it was quite unique. Rather than the usual peanut sauce, they put some pineapples into it thus gave it a little tangy taste. Anyway, be prepared to forked out RM0.50 for a plate of cucumbers and onions (this is soooo ridiculous la!). Why on earth they want to do that? It supposed to be given free right? Chish!

This is Caleb enjoying his satay. Hahaha.....no, we didn't mean to give it to him in the first place cox I was worried it might too spicy for him. Although I was telling him 'it's lat-lat (spicy)' in the first place but he still insisted on having it. So, nah, take lar.... and he took it very well. Hahaha...in the end, he ate 3 sticks! *rolls eyes*

We went back to the hotel, packed up things and checked out at about 1pm. Overall that summarized our cuti-cuti Malaysia. Bet we won't have this chance again...no, not in near future.

Cuti-cuti Malaysia to Port Dickson & Malacca

We just came back from our short trip to Port Dickson and Malacca last week and yes, I enjoyed it but the driver been grumbling from time to time. He hates driving, especially the North-South Highway. He claimed it made him drowsy or something like after he drank a half pint of beer. (p/s: he can't drink, even a chick hen drink better than him, wakaka. Ok, joke aside)

Anyway, we started off our journey to PD first, stayed in Avillion Admiral Cove (yes, it's great!) for a night and moved to Malacca afterward, stayed in Malacca for another night and back to kl. Jk said it's my cuti-cuti Malaysia, not his. He is only a driver and a banker....lols

I bought a voucher from Living Socials site last month when they have this irresistible deal for a Superior Room for 2 including a buffet dinner and a breakfast only for RM208. BUFFET DINNER and BREAKFAST for 2 larrrr.....and with Caleb, let's make that 3. This little rascal can eat, no joke.

But when I emailed them for reservation, they told me Superior Room were fully taken, wtf right? but they have this Premium and Studio room available, just that we need to top up another RM30/RM50. So, no choice lar, upgrade also upgrade la. Pay lor.... On the second thought, maybe this is one their tactic. Oh....con man, they are everywhere. Chish!!

Every complaint I had in mind vanished when I stepped into the room. It was a huge, clean and nice, a king-sized soft and comfy bed, elegant working place, a day bed with big pillows (but I dont dare to touch them la, god knows when the last time they got washed and changed. ahemmm), a washing basin in the room........

The bathroom was equally nice, with rain effect shower head. Isn't that's what you always hope for a good shower? I know I am :)

Next, we walked around in the vicinity of the hotel....

First up, marina view which a lot of yatchs and boats docking. Some for sale, very cheap SGD500k only :) Peanuts right? *grin*

Luckily his only interest is the pool. Ok, off to the pool we go!! (after applied tonnes of sunblock all over)

Caleb is having sooooooo much fun.

That night we had dinner at Trader's Food Shop. The buffet itself was quite decent. Not much variety and taste wise, just so-so. But I managed to have 4-5 rounds of food. Hahaha.....When you have nothing to do, all that you thinking of is just food, basically.

We slept at 10pm that night. A very good night sleep. Thanks to the fluffy, comfy King-sized bed, although Caleb's flying kicks us a few time.

The next morning, we woke up at 7:30am. Hahaha...it's our daily waking up time btw. So, after dilly dally ding dong ding dong, we went for their breakfast at around 8:30am. So early but we couldn't a vacant table in the restaurant. So, we chooses a seat outside, facing the sea. Not bad, just that the damn flies were really irritating.  

Not so much of selection for the breakfast too but dont be choosy and still it can filled you up. I took a few pieces of toasted breads, some fried meehoon, yucky sausages (I have no idea why on earth they have such tasteless sausages), egg omelette and some fruits. Oh and some cereals for Caleb to munch on.

After breakfast, we just walked around again. At first we planned to bring him to the beach and play sand, built some sandcastle, scoop sea water. Afterall, that was the initial plan of bringing him to PD. But this fella is so obsessed with the pool (too syiok already yesterday), he didnt want to go to the beach. Sighh.....

So we went to the swimming pool for one last time again.

Before that, I need to make him poo first. But no potty, how ar? Mmm.....so, put on a thinking hat and look around. Aha! Pillow....big pillowsss. Hehehehe.......and I turned it into Caleb's poo-ing wonderland!

Good idea...... :D

We checked out from the hotel and began our journey to another destination. Malacca, here we come!

The Loo's family trip to A'Famosa

Just came back from The Loo's family trip in Malacca A'Famosa Resort. There were 6 adults and 3 children, so we booked a 3 rooms villa with kitchen and attached private swimming pool. Hee hee.....the kids were ecstatic and so did the adults. :)
The kids, of course were having lots of fun. Especially this little cow of mine because got 2 che ches to play with lar....

1st day: We reached there around 1:30pm and after we checked in, fed the kids, it was almost 3pm. Adults were hungry, so we went to search for food. Had a very nice curry mee at an old style kopitiam. Not sure if we were too hungry or it was really nice. Haha....

Then we went back to our villa and getting ready for POOL TIME!

After playing in pool for around 1 hour, everybody was darn tired. We took another 20 minutes to drag persuade Caleb out from the pool. This guy ar....aiyo....headache. He kept on screaming on top of his voice he want to stay inside the pool. Keep on saying "last one? , last one? , last one?"

Last one and last one and last one until I couldn't take it anymore, I just scooped him up straight away went in and of course he turned into unspeakable monster. Still crying when I bathed him...... *_*

For dinner, we had steamboat. :)

Easy, yummy and economy. We bought so much food that it can feed the whole army.

2nd day: I didnt have a good night sleep, probably because I didnt sleep in my own bed with my own stinky pillows and blanket. Lols....

Our villa booking included 6 complimentary breakfast. Any addition (including the kids), we need to pay RM12++, no free breakfast or half price for kids. And since the breakfast so darn expensive, we went and check it out..

At first I thought it was buffet breakfast but no..... it all came in set.

You have a choice to choose either "Nasi Lemak" 

or "Western Breakfast" with 2 sausages, 2 slices of bread, 2 eggs, a pinch of salad *sigh* and a bowl of baked bean.

Overall, breakfast sucks! Nasi lemak was horrible, stale taste from the rendang chicken. Yucks..... so, I thought luckily I didnt order that. I went with the western set. I mean nothing can go wrong with sausages and eggs and breads right? Just fried the eggs and sausages only ma right? WRONG!

When it came to me, wow....what happen to my sausage? It looks like 2 badly mutated sausages. Eggs were hard and the breads were dry. Kaneh.....and this set was priced at RM12++?!?! o.O

Itinerary for today is to visit Water World. Admission rate for adult is RM35 and kid is RM30 inclusive one lunch set. Kids under 3ft is FOC. Haha...and Caleb and another niece of mine went in for free.

I didn't bring my camera/phone inside so no pictures to show here. Such a waste....Caleb was having crazy time there. He played with water slide over and over and over again. The first few times, we went down with him but after a while he wanted to go down the slide by himself. Hahaha.....due to off balance, he falls and knocked the back of his head a few times. Crazy mom, I can still laugh at him..... His head made of steel, didnt feel any pain at all and went up again and again. ^.^

After spending 2 hours in the water world, everybody was drop, dead, tired again. Went back to our villa, bathed and getting ready to nap, recharge our battery.

Grumpy face, just woke up from nap. Actually we nudge him to wake up :)

We went to Tampin town for dinner, Restaurant Jih Hong. We didnt know which makan shop to go but we go by the rule of thumb. See which one have the most patrons....haha....genius right?

This is the Kung Pou Squid and omelette for the kids, the only decent picture I took. Why? Because we have 6 hungry adults and 3 hungry children. Basically we just pawned on the food as soon as it arrived. no chance for photo-shoot ler...

We went to Cowboy Town after dinner around 8pm. Walked walked abit but really nothing to see. So, we just waited for the time to watch Red Indian Show and Animal Musical Parade Show.

This is picture really a treasure. I think over 20 pictures we took with Caleb, this the only one he look at the camera. Others he just shut the eyes, look left, look right or look down. Sigh... anywhere except the camera.

3rd day: Our last day in A'Famosa Resort. After breakfast, we checked out and headed to Malacca.

Had a quick lunch at Nancy's Kitchen. Jk's brother and his wife really fancy this place and it happen to be the most popular place among Singaporean. But the food just taste average.

As it really crowded on the ground floor, we straight headed upstairs.

Jk's brother did most of the ordering as I was really busy because Caleb pooped. Aiyoyo..... He was squirming and told me "she she" but I thought maybe he just pulling my leg. Mana tau this guy really pooped and stained his pant.

I quickly zoomed him into the toilet and after I opened up his diaper, he straight away pooped on the floor and sprayed everywhere. Aiyerrrr.......*I hope no one was eating when reading this* hahaha

Luckily my mom in law with me so she was like kau tim everything for me. Phewwww.......

After lunch, we walked around jonker street before headed back to KL and Jk's brother back to Singapore.
