Product Review: PIGEON Sakura Baby Toiletries skincare range

*This is a sponsored post

Few months ago, I was invited to do a product review on Pigeon Sakura Range Baby Toiletries, their latest range in skincare products.

I've been using Buds baby products ever since Caleb was born and continue using it on Caven. For skincare I would to go for organic and natural, free from harsh chemical such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES) (which widely used in personal care products such as soaps, shampoo and toothpaste) parabens, mineral oils, petrochemicals and so on.

So, when I was approached by Pigeon Malaysia to review their products, I did a quick check on the website about the ingredients. I was quite happy because of their reputable brand, their products are free from chemical contents, no paraben, sulphates and coloring agents. Best of all, this is the Sakura range where they are using natural Sakura extract that has many benefits on skin. One of them is anti-inflammatory properties which suitable for sensitive skin and ezcema.

I received the whole range of Sakura skincare product which consists of Baby Wash 2-in-1 (200ml), Baby Shampoo (200ml), Baby Milky Lotion (200ml), Baby Oil (200ml) and Baby Powder (200g). All were nicely packed in flowery cloth texture packaging.

This is when whole army lining up one by one.

Can you guess which of the 5 that I was eagerly to try out? Oh yes, Pigeon Baby Wash 2-in-1. As a lazy busy mother anything stated 2-in-1 or 'from head to toe' baby wash got into my first priority. Haha, why? Because one bottle is all it takes when I need to bath my wiggling little 'caterpillar'. Gosh, he can move non-stop. His hands will grab anything within reach and those far from reach, leg and foot come in handy.

- Baby wash 2in1

This is Caven having his morning bath with Pigeon Baby Wash 2-in-1. It came in clear liquid and quite bubbly to use. Only a small amount will do and it lather so well.

And the scent, it smell sooooo good!. Flowery, musky and very earthy scent filled up the whole bathroom almost instantly. It was easily to rinse off and Caven smells so good while his skin feels so soft and stay moisturized. I can't help but pick him up for a sniff throughout the day :)

- Baby Shampoo (200ml)

As Caven's hair is not much and one bottle of Pigeon Baby Wash 2-in-1 is more than enough and can lasts him for quite some time, I used this for Caleb instead. As I said earlier, I am a lazy busy mother (ahemm), I always use 'from head to toe' wash for Caleb and this resulting in his hair feels dry and rough.

I tried Pigeon Baby Shampoo on Caleb and very happy as it rinse off quite easily. After rinse, his hair feels so soft and manageable. Combing his curly hair become so easy nowaday and he didn't run away when he see me coming with a hair brush :)

I like it. Caleb like it. Everybody is happy.

Oh, it smell equally good and most important, it tear-free. I know my son can whine like a girl when something like this goes into his eyes.

- Baby Milky Lotion (200ml)

I don't normally massage my baby because he flips, tosses and turns as soon as he's on his back. So, after bathing Caven, I'd put on his cloth diaper and dressed him up in the speed of lightning. But for the last few weeks, I started to massage him with Pigeon Baby Milky Lotion and amazingly, he calmed down. No more turning and flipping (yeah!). I guess he enjoyed it so much that he decided to stay still for me to molest massage him :)

What I did was squeezed out a 50 cents size on my palm, rubbed it with both hands. Once it got warm, I started to massage him beginning on his forehead, cheeks, neck, chest, both armpits, arms (but not his hands because he stuff his hands in his mouth), tummy and all the way goes down to his butt, both legs and feets. It feels good because it's not sticky at all. It got absorps into his skin so fast and it leaves his skin soft and supple.

Not to mention he smells so flowery too.... haha

- Baby powder (200g)
Caven sweats a lot eventhou he is not consider a big size baby especially skin fold at the back of his neck, nappy areas and his armpits. This Pigeon Baby Powder comes in handy when the mother is lazy busy to do baby massage using lotion. (Hahaha....why la this mother so lazy oppssss....busy one)

I like the texture of this baby powder. It is so fine and easy to apply. The smell is just as same as the other products, musky and flowery. That is why I can't resist to sniff him even when he asleep. Really love the scent.

- Baby Oil (200ml)

Frankly speaking, I don't like baby oil because in my mindset they are greasy, messy and very very oily which explained why I don't normally apply it on both of my kiddos. But I decided to give it a try with Pigeon Baby Oil. I pour a little bit on my palm, rubbed it together and started to massage Caven's chest, tummy and butt and watdayyaknow, it absorps quikly and didn't leave any greasy feeling. Love the scent, as always :)

Sometimes, Caven and Caleb have this flaky/dirty stuff in their inner ears. So, what I did was, I took a cotton bud, dabbed it with a little Pigeon Baby Oil, gently wipe around the areas. After a few rounds of wiping, all the dirty stuffs came off on the cotton buds and leave their ears clean and smell fresh.

Overall, I'm quite happy with Pigeon Sakura Baby products and most important, I really love the scent. Musky, mild and flowery. More reasons to like this products:
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Paraben-free
  • Sulphates-free
  • Free from coloring agents
  • pH Balanced
  • Tear-free (for Baby Wash 2-in1 and Baby Shampoo)
  • Mild and Gentle

Pigeon Sakura Baby Toiletries skincare are available at all Pigeon counters at Parkson, Isetan, Metrojaya and Sogo outlets in Malaysia.

Caleb's Undies

Caleb has been going diaper-free for more than a month now. Of course, I still need to put diaper on him during his nap time and night time. But even that, on a few occasions, he woke up with his diaper dry, *dancing in glee* - that means I can put on the same diaper on him the next time. Save money! :)

Initially he just wear pant at home and when we went out for meal, I'd put on diaper for him. A few times during meal time, while syiok-syiok eating, suddenly he blurted out "Mami, shh-shh". Jeez, potong stim betul la.... But that's our responsibility and we must persevere until the end. Although I can just ask him to pee into his diaper. If I do that, what kind of message I'm sending to him? He will have this thinking running through his mind:

Should I pee in my diaper or shouldn't I pee in my diaper?
Why sometimes I can pee in my diaper but sometimes mami cane me if I pee-ed?
Or is it at home I must pee in potty but when we went outside I can just pee on diaper?

See? Confusing right? I'm confused too. How on earth a 3 years old toddler could understand?

So, now he's off diaper when we went out for shopping and eating out. That's when it got me thinking, without the diaper, wearing pant for him is kinda weird. His bird is hanging free, can run here and there and I caught him a few times clutching his birdie as if it is really flying out from his pant... Hahaha.... And it is dangerous when he wearing pant with zip, those jeans material la. I was so paranoid when I did the zipping, keep on pushing "it" go inside.... Lolzzzz....!! I'm sure you will too right?

Finally I bought a stash of underwear for him. You hear me right. UNDERWEAR. For a 3 years old kid....How old are you when you wore your first underwear? For me I have no idea, but definitely not when I'm 3 years old.

Taa-daa!! Caleb's undies! and all of them have Tom and Jerry's printing....muahahaha....

I got him XS size. The smallest available. They are so so so tiny. So cute! I can't help myself and I was laughing everytime I folding his undies. It just like the size of my palm and anyone of you who know me, my palm isn't very big. :)

This crazy mother even asked his son to pose for the camera. Hahaha.... I asked him to hold on to his shirt while I'm snapping away.

Now he is happily running all over the house with his underwear and most important, he is comfortable in it because the birdie can't run away anymore.

Hahahahaha...............Jeez!

Caleb and the swimming pool

Ever since Caleb had his first dip in A'Famosa Malacca and second dip in Port Dickson (uh, I havent blog about this yet), he can't take his eyes off whenever he sees a pool or a fountain or a bucket full of water *.*||

Everytime when I bath him, he would take out a bucket (the one that usually soak clothes in it) and asked me to fill it up with water so that he can 'squat' in and pretend that he is swimming in there. Haha..... But now, he've already outgrown most of the buckets I have at home. So we thought why don't we ask somebody to come and construct a swimming pool just for him.

I checked a few websites online and shortlist to these:

Nice eh? Too bad we don't have enough money nor space to build. Hahahaha!! Crazy... Kidding, kidding :))

So, I bought this instead. Darn cheap, only RM29.90! Can you believe it??? Measure at 4' x 10" Rigid wall... I can sense Caleb is going to have a helluva FUN!

Fill up with water

Oh, he can sense it too. He was so eager to come out but I asked him to stay in first. I closed the door grill and ask him to wait in the house while I filled up the pool for him. But then he 'con' my dad into opening the grill for him, saying he wants to sit on the stool. Then slowly he said wants to sit on bench, afterward he said wants to wear shoe.... Chis~

Hahaha....Ah Kong kena tipu already. :")

"I want to sit on bench jek and watch from afar ok?"

Finally....... I took his shirt off and let him in.

I insisted on him wearing the pant so that his 'birdie' wont get expose but he keep on yanking his pant down. Keep telling me "Mami take off pant, take off pant". So ok lor, what the heck.... take off for him lor.

Hahaha...Nah! Somebody in nude, come and see, come and see! Lai lai lai...lelong lelong.

When I asked him to show me how to swim, immediately lowered his chest and start flapping his hands. Lolz...

In the evening, my nephew joined in the fun.

The sun was scrotching hot, I opened up 2 unbrellas to shield them. If not, they'll end up become BBQ squid.

I'm still staying at my parent's house and will be going back to KL 2 days from now. I really hope that we dont have to drag Caleb back since he is having so much fun here. Got kor-kor, got amah, got ah kong, got bicycle.... Sigh...we'll see.

"I'm sure everybody will miss you too, superbaby. You have bring so much fun and laughter to your Ah Kong and Amah. You never fails to make them smile and laugh. I promise to bring you back real soon, ok?

Finger food

Finger food for Caleb is crucial thing when we are dining out. No finger food can means haywire, cannot eat in peace, one of us will eat alone and keep on shouting at Caleb to sit down on his babychair.

So, once finger food is at low beeping sound, it's time to reinstock again....

These are the things I bought the other day we went to Jaya Grocer in The Empire @ Subang Jaya. Not a normal place we'd go to buy our grocery but since this is a newly opened shopping mall, we just go and check it out! (actually Kennysia wrote about it in his blog and I want to try Nasi Kerabu and Pavlova dessert @ Serai so so so badly)

Orchard apple biscotti by Heinz.

Each pack of these contains 12 finger biscuits. These biscuits smell really appley when I first opened it up. Eventually I took a bite before I gave it to Caleb because I want to make sure it is not too sweet. Did you ever taste Milna Rusk baby biscuits? These biscuits I don't know how much sugar they put inside. I bought a packet of it before and ended throwing 99% away after I tasted it. TOOOOO SWEET wtf. Can cause me diabetes, tooth decay and high blood pressure!

Ok, back to Heinz apple biscotti...They taste midly of sweet apples and they dissolve so fast in his hungry mouths so I'm not so worried about him getting choked on it. But still, I need to supervise and monitor them whenever he is eating. The size of each biscuits fit snugly in their little hand too!

Each pack priced at RM4.50

Little kids Breadstick cheesy from Heinz.

This is my favourite. Haha...nola, not favourite as I'm eating it. It's my favourite because Caleb will take ages to chew them down due to its hard texture. Breadstick ma...really like stick oh...keke
So, while Caleb is having fun time playing with his stick the breadstick, then I can have 3-4 minutes eating time without any interruption.

Each packet contains 12 breadstick with 2 pieces in 1 individual packing. Convenient when I'm in rush and i'll just stuff 2 packs in my diaper bag.

Each packet priced at RM9.40

Organic apple mini rice cakes by Heinz (again.. :))

I've been giving this rice cakes since Caleb was around 10months old. That time he still didn't know how to use his 2 front teeth to bite. So, I broke it into small pieces and encourage him to feed himself (so that I can more time finishing on my food...haha)

Taste wise is quite bland and it has mild apple scent on it. Each piece is coated with little amount of sticky apple syrup. The size are just nice and very easy to handle in their little hand and when they bite into it, no crumble falling everywhere.

Each packet weight at 40g with around 18-20 pieces.

Each packet priced at RM9.90

Organic Bubs. No Numbers. No nasties. JUST REAL ORGANIC FOOD! I just love their slogan ^^

One of my favourite too. They have 12 flavours to choose from and all comes in Pouch Power Pack. So far, I've tried their Pear & White Grape, Apple & Cinnamon, Banana & Apricot Power Porridge and this new flavour: Apple & Berry Bircher Muesli. All taste very very good.

You can serve it either hot or cold from fridge. For me, I'd mixed it in his plain cereal or porridge when I don't have much ingredient at home. Or I just feed him directly onto the spoon as dessert after lunch/dinner meal. Sometimes, I'll just bring it out with me and feed him during our dining out time. No hassle, No mess. :)

The only disadvantage is although keep refrigerated after open, it can only be keep up to 48hours. :(

Each packet weighed at 120g and price at RM9.90 (ouch!)

If you can rent, why buy?

Baby's toy are so expensive nowaday and seems like every manufacturer outdo each other aiming to produce toys that can turn a baby into Einstein. I don't exactly know how true they are but I guess every parent only want the best for their baby. I am no exception.

Function of baby's toy mainly is to stimulate the senses, particularly the senses of sight, sound and touch. That is why baby toys are colorful, textured and making so much noise. Picking the right one is definitely not easy.

I bought a few toys for Caleb since birth and sadly they need to change constantly to suit his growth. That means money in my piggy bank need to grow as well.

This I bought through online baby store when he was 2 months old.

Fisher Price 2 in 1 Musical Turtle Gym

He is not playing anymore. But when he see it, he'd crawl towards it and start tearing, pulling, slapping....more like want to demolish the whole thing rather than want to play with it. So, I've kept it inside the store room away from his sight.

I bought "Rock A Stack" from Fisher Price when he was 7 months old. Yupe, fisher price again. I love fisher-price :)

It's been around for ages as I remember playing with it when I was a baby. Haha....my memory so geng, from baby until now still remember. Nola, I think I took a picture with this toy with me. So I assumed I must be played with it before :)

Anyway, Rock-A-Stack helps babies develop coordination as they learn to stack the rings (we always refer the rings as 'the doughnuts') in the proper order. The rings also can help in teething, stimulating senses and also developing motor skills.

At first he'd just pour all the rings out, scattering everywhere, throwing and biting them,  Occasionally he just crawl with them, hand grasping the rings and crawling. Until few weeks ago, he took one of the rings in hand and aiming towards the yellow pole.

Wah...I'm so happy and of course I encourage him to stack it. At first I helped him abit adjusting the pole, make it easier for him and when he successfully stack it on, I yelled, clapped and waved my hands (so excited, better than winning a 4D) like crazy mom. Haha..just exaggerate only. Just let him 'syiok' abit then he has motivation do more.

He started stacking them one by one but sometimes he just got frustrated throwing the whole thing down and  crawl away. The next day I let him try again and again and again. Hahaha...and now he's so expert in stacking all the rings in the pole. Just that he still dont know the sequence.

Anyway, I'm happy :)

Last week I came across Rent-a-Toy website that rent out toys (duhh...obvious la... :D)

I should have found this earlier because Caleb will be a very happy baby. They have all sort of things from books to walker and even panel to form a play yard. All at a very affordable rental price.

For the first time, I rent this:

Evenflo Mega ExerSaucer

The tearing part of the label

As you can see, there are a bunch of toys loaded around the tray and baby sit in the center can bounces, rocks and swivels...

Let me introduce Caleb's friends one by one :)

1. A rhino hugging on a mirror ( i think it is a rhino thou..)

2. A hanging tarzan bear.

3. A safari truck loaded with 15 different songs. Caleb so expert in pressing the middle button for a song and when the song ended, he'll go and press again.

4. An 'E' teether which smeared with Caleb's saliva (yuck!)

5. A very thin giraffe. Not enough eat lar..

6. I dont know what is it. I guess it is a bear with faded face and have 3 segments of the body which numbered 1, 2, 3

7. A see-through ball filled with tiny little balls inside. Roll it and you can see tiny balls inside rolling too. Cause and effect huh.....

8. A peek-a-boo lion. Roarrrrr!!

Mega Exersaucer is 'useful, serve its purpose' for a good half and hour. Pacat thinks that his mami and dadi are so naive (ok, only mami la, the dadi got nothing to do with this :p) that this thingy can make him stay and stop messing around.

Well, dream on!! I'm super-baby, you know!

And I thought expensive is good....

I was so shocked when I read mummyreview's blog on how she found out Healthy Times cereal was infested with insects moment ago. You can read more here.

This is the brand that I trusted most and been feeding Caleb from the moment he started semi solid food 6 months ago. Price is definitely not cheap. For a small box of 170g, it cost RM16.50 (can last maybe for 1-2 weeks)

It was my SIL who staying in Singapore that recommend this brand to me last time. She commented on how good it was and so easy to prepare. Meals ready in a jiffy....because that time I mentioned to her on how I was so forgetful and didnt switch on the slower cooker most of the time. By the time Caleb need his porridge, opppsss.....

After I read her blog, I quickly go and inspect mine. Luckily no insects inside. But I've already throw away the hard cover packaging. Thus I cant check on the batch number and expiry date. I transfered mine into a tupperware. Well, just in case, if I got bugs picnic around my kitchen....

Mmmm...how ar? Continue or not to continue using this brand?

Caleb sleeping bag

Who havent heard of baby sleeping bag before?

Well, dont feel bad. Right before I was pregnant, I didnt know a thing regarding to baby's stuff. Most popular brand in my mind that time are MNG, ZARA, Esprit and....... and......aiks, 3 only I remember now. Gosh!! Hahaha....

As now, I'm getting more and more familiar with brands like Munchkin, Avent, Earth Mama Angel Baby, Carlifornia Baby, Naforye, Quinny, Grobag, Carter's...I can go on and on and on :)

Ok, back to the sleeping bag. A baby sleeping bag suppose to let baby sleep in it (duhhh....obvious la) so that he can be safe and warm at the night. Unlike conventional blankets where it will tangle up or baby kicking it off. Worse case, got covered over the face and caused the terrifying SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)

We switching on the air conditional almost every night. Thanks to the extremely hot weather in KL. But I think most of the places also facing the same problem. So, normally I will put on a blanket for Caleb. But then he always toss and turn when he sleep. And sometimes his shirt got pulled up and exposed his belly button. I'm worried that he will catch flu and cold afterwards. That's why I'll wake up every now and then just to check on him. See if he kick off his blanket, see if the blanket cover his face, see if the shirt got pulled up or not. Sigh...torturing right?

So, I think about it for quite some time wheather we really should buy a sleeping bag for him. I begin to look around in the net for the cheapest bargain. I even checked out at US and UK ebay. Hoping that it sell cheaper there. But plus all the shipping and taxes, it is not worth it.

The leading sleeping bag for baby is Grobag. Everybody is talking about it. But the price is really flakking expensive. The cheapest one also selling at RM199. Everytime I see this price, I'd just click away.

But then.........

Little Whiz (online baby store which I bought the Fisher Price Gym for Caleb last time) sending me email regarding their sales during Labour Day. So, I went in and checked what they have on sales.

Ha Ha Ha... Grobag was one of the items on sales. Price slashing from RM219 to RM99.90 wor...How to resist!!

I clicked adding to cart first and was thinking to make the payment tomorrow. The next day I went in and checked again. 2 of the 4 designs were already SOLD OUT. Wahh...so scary. I made the payment on the spot and I got it the next 2 days.

Hahaha...really kiasu of me. I bought 18-36m for Caleb. It's too big and too long for him now.

Cow motif. But I think this suppose for girls lar...the cow is girl wor

But what the heck, he will out grown in a wink of second and before you know it, he will be kicking away the sleeping bag. Let's hope it not coming soon.

RM99.90 leh......
