Bake with Caleb

Recently, I'm back to the kitchen and starting baking cakes again. I miss baking so much and now that Caleb has grown up, I have a little helper myself :)

Ever since didi Caven was born, I noticed that I spent so little time with Caleb. Most of my time was feeding, burping, nursing, carrying, bouncing and playing Candy Crush Caven. So, this little activity is just nice between us. And he loves baking so much!
Concentrating... :)

I bought a packet of orange poppyseed muffin premix from a nearby baker shop. It got everything inside that little packet and when you have a sugar craving, you just need to add in water, oil and egg. Easy peasy.... Even a 4 year old can do.

Smile Caleb smile!

I let him scoop the batter into baking cups. As usual it is a little messy. I'm ok with it. Afterall baking with kid is suppose to be messy, dirty and fun right? Ya, if I'm not the one who do the washing and cleaning up. :)

Ok ok....just a little messy is ok la.

After 25 minutes in the oven, it turned out beautifully.

Soft, fluffy, so orangey. Love the poppyseeds inside. Give you a little crunch in every bite.

Gonna go and grab a few packets of these premix again. Caleb said we should do this more often. Ok, son. Whatever you say....

Conversation with Caleb @ 3 years & 9 months old

Conversation with Caleb now a day.....

Scene 1:

Yesterday after came back from school, the father would normal bathed him. After bath, he walked over to the dining table, see what's for lunch. I served him a bowl of vegetable porridge. 2 of the things he hated the most, vege and porridge. Hahaha....

Caleb: What's that?

Me: Chuk-chuk (porridge)

Caleb: No, I don't want chuk-chuk.

Me: Yes, you need to eat chuk-chuk. Finish it. (Am I sound like Hitler here?)

Caleb: But I don't know how to finish chuk-chuk.....

Me: I think you don't know how to watch tv too, (Normally I'd let him watch his favourite Artzooka on Astro 612 before his afternoon nap) so, don't watch, ok?

Caleb: Noooo.......I want to watch. I know......

Me: So, finish your chuk-chuk and then you can watch.

Caleb: Sigh....oooookkkkk.

Yeah! Mami 1 - Baby 0

Scene 2:

Me: Caleb, this Jake and the pirate is the last one, ok? (while he watch Disney Junior on tv) After this we go afternoon nap.

Caleb: Ok.

After the programme is finished, I heard some yelling between him and my mil.

Mil: Ok, finish already. Now is Ma Ma's turn.

Caleb: Nooo, I want to watch the next one.

Mil: Mami said finish, last one already. Now is afternoon nap time.

Caleb: Noooo....

I quickly come out from the room and took him in.

Me: Caleb, what happen? What did mami said just now? Did mami said Jake and the Pirate is the last one?

Caleb: Yes....but I forgot.

Me: (Speechless. Dunno what to say...)

Mami -1, Baby -1

JK was there in the room, he took blanket and cover his face - laughing hysterically inside. I have to put on a serious face trying very hard not to laugh.....My goodness, I can't imagine when he get older. The head is full of reasons and excuses. Now I need something to boost up my brain also.....

Wondermama - Revisit

Revisit Wondermama situated at Bangsar Village 1 a few weeks ago. This time the new addition to the group are my mother in law and my little Caven! Haha...the last time we were there, Caven was still in my tummy, savouring every drop of the foods that I ate.

First up, assorted nyoya kuih @ RM1.50 per piece. If you ask me, it worth your money. Very very good. Even Caleb had almost half of this portion. He wanted to taste every one of them, so we cut up half of every piece and he whacked everything up. My tiny dinosaur really can eat despite of his size :) Kecik kecik cili padi ma.....

My tiny dinosaur...

Since we were so hungry, we ordered some egg toast with ham and cheese (forgot what this called) for sharing from the breakfast menu while passing time, waiting for their ala carte menu. They offer more choice of food during lunch. So, if you want to eat kiss-ass noodles, variety of fried rice, expensive nasi lemak, be sure to be there after noon.

I tried their Special Seafood Maggi Mee Goreng from the menu. For a plate of Maggi Mee Goreng priced at RM14.90 doesn't really kick any sense in my mind. So, just to prove they really serve (better be hell-out-of-this-world, aitelyu) kiss-ass/special Maggi Mee, I ordered one.

It came with generous amount of seafood such as squid, prawns, scallop, salmon, fried egg, onion, few slices of cucumber and  baby bok-choy, fried with their homemade sauce. It was good. Spicy and full of 'wok-hei', fresh seafood, nice sauce. Worth it? Mmm...okla

pic credited here

Mom in law settled for the Nyoya Laksa (RM13.90) comes with prawn, slices of fish cake, cockles and bean curd drowned in creamy broth. She said it was nice. Spicy and fragrant.

Caleb's kid set meal. Spagetti in tomato sauce, lousy fried egg, a piece of fried chicken and a bottle of yakult. In the end, he had few spoonful of spagetti and half of the fried egg and claimed he's full. All the while he was eyeing at the bottle of yakult. Hah! In the end, I ate his spagetti and egg and the father ate the fried chicken. Gau tim!

Finally a picture of me and my prince.

Where is the little guy all these while? He slept in the stroller for a less than 15 minutes and woke up demanding to be carried. So, we passed him around like a football while the other eat.

Now, everybody can EAT!

Curry wild boar

My mom-in-law cook this and we eat it for 2 days in a row. Mmmm....nyum nyum. Goes well with hot white rice or bread. I choose the later :)

It's spicy, full of spices, fragrant and absolutely divine......... A killer dish!

Since my mom-in-law said there is still leftover curry spices around, next week we are going to have curry chicken. Oh My Favourite!

Lunch with my date

My mom-in-law didn't cook today so Caleb and I go jalan jalan cari makan :)

As usual, if I need to feed Caleb with outside food, I'll try to find those foods that less salty, less oily and less ajinomoto. Basically food as plain as possible and tasteless.

So, we went to Be Lohas Healthy Cuisine Cafe in Setiawalk. Healthy, organic, green and saving the planet, need I say more. And for the one in Setiawalk, you can choose to adopt a tree.

For a start, they served 2 tablet of Spirulina and a cup of ginger tea for FREE. Caleb popped in one in his mouth thinking it was M&M or something. The last time he ate this and his whole mouth turned green and he was desperately asking for water. Hahaha..... this time, after he popped one in his mouth I asked him to eat one spoonful of fried rice. In the end, he didn't complain.

I ordered one kiddy set for him. Pumpkin fried rice with a few pieces of seaweed and sweet corn. Tried a few spoonfuls, no taste. Good...my objective was fulfilled.
Ahhhh......

Ommmm......

So nice....

Yupe, he finished up the whole plate of fried rice. Good boy.

Bald baby....

Yupe, this is a waaaayyy long back-dated post.... It was almost a month ago since we got him shaved. My tough baby didn't even cry. Good boy eh...

Anyway, I took this picture right after we shaved him at yeh yeh's house.

At first we don't mean to shave him as botak baby can look really fierce. Yes, that was what happened to Caleb when we first shaved him 3 years.

This is him. Fierce Caleb, he just want to swallow you whole.
I am Caleb at 2 months old. Any resemble to my didi?

Anyway, we noticed Caven's hair began to fall after some time. Many morning, I found lots of tiny little hair on his pillow. I have to roll it off with sticky tape every time he woke up. And the 2 horns (hair) always sticking out no matter what I did. So, no choice, we got him shaved @ 3 months old.

I am angry botak baby....

Well, I can be a happy baby if my mami agoo-goo at me....

If you did a good job, then I can be really really chirpy baby. Nah, wider smile for you!

My 2 bosses....
