Caven @ 10 weeks old

Little Caven is almost 10 weeks old now. For a start, Caven is an illegal baby because he hasn't get his birth certificate/mykid.

Why right?

Because the father totally forgotten about it. It was when we decided to take Caven for a jab then only we realised he got no IC! Yeah, what a lousy parent we are. Boooo........

Anyway, we got it done by now and still waiting for collection. Hope everything'll turn out fine and Caven can own his legal mykid.

Breastfeeding:

Breastfeeding is progressing very well. I'm still direct latching him day and night. Now he has become a very good latcher. Everytime he found his 'food source' (aka my breast la), he'll open his mouth real big and 'ngap' with a strong suction. Can really feel he drawing out the milk.

This is his face after a satisfying meal :) - Mabuk (drunk)

Currently he is drinking 6-7 times in 24 hours. I'm not sure how much he drink thou but as long as he gave me more than 6 wet nappies and heavy/scary poos every alternate day (not to mention that mabuk look), I shouldn't be worry. I'm still amaze how he could survive just with my milk.

Sleeping:

By now, Caven's sleeping pattern is quite routine and manageable. There were times when he just want to be cuddled and swayed in your arm. The moment you put him down on bed or rocker or whatever, ka-ching, both eyes were wide open like an owl and start to wail again.

He would normally nap once in the morning and a long nap in the afternoon. What I mean long nap is like 3-4 hours in one stretch (good eh?). That's why I make both of them nap at the same time so that I could have my cuppa coffee and doing things on my lappie in peace. Yay!!

Caven became quite cranky in the evening, most evening. This is the time when he just want to be cuddle and sleep in human-arm with human body heat. Previously we were passing him around when one needs a toilet break. But now, I'm babywearing him.

Boy, he just look warm and snug in there and he fall asleep in the matter of second. Jk was commenting this piece of cloth is awesome. Hahaha......whatever thing that can make him stop yelling and crying is just great la. Hak! The only downside of this wrap is it's kinda warm and I'm sweating all over. So, I need to make sure the air-con is on when I'm babywearing him. :)

Development:

He is quite alert now and I even caught him smiling and coo-ing a few times after his satisfying meal. Sometimes he squeal too, letting out a loud shriek. Mobility wise, he could lift his head up for a few second when I put him on his tummy then plopped down, face flat on bed. Then he'd yelling for help with hands flying in air. Haha...that's cute. No worry, next time mami will take a picture first before coming to your rescue.

This is how we like to describe him. Cow with 2 horns. Hak! Hak!
He got powerful legs and his kicking is really hurt sometimes. No joke! Especially when his mang-chang angin going on. Need to be careful holding him tight so that he won't fall. Just that thought is enough to send shiver down my spine.

I can't wait for him to laugh hysterically. That would be fun!

Kong Hei Fatt Choy 2013

Happy Chinese New Year 2013.

We went back to Bentong for about 1 week. Caleb had a great time saying Kong Hei Fatt Choy to everyone he met and in return he got 2 ang pows. One for him and one for didi.

He wore this at the 1st day of Chinese New Year. My mil bought this for him as his birthday gift last year. Yea right, a birthday gift double as Chinese new year costume. :)

My mom was laughing crazily when she saw Caleb wear this China Ah Pek costume. She said how come looks like gwai lo in ah pek suit. Hahaha.....I said wait till he greet you Kong Hei Fatt Choy in gwai lo's slang.

On 2nd day, he wore a very nice shirt with his name printed on it. It say 'le or 樂' as his chinese name is 凱樂 for Caleb. Nice name right? I know.

Non stop camwhoring for the camera. Hah! All the poses he posed by himself. Not a single one by me :)

On the 3rd day of CNY, he become really obsessed with camwhoring. Keep on pestering me in taking his pictures. My...my...

and then pester his dadi in taking pictures with him, making even funnier poses.

And where is Caven through out this CNY? He's doing alrite.

He sleep. He fuss. He cry.

And make funny faces.

Yes, on rare occasion, he smile too.

My mom introduced sarung to Caven and for the first few days, he was sleeping peacefully in it. But towards the end, he fussed and cried and scream. I don't know why la, maybe he short-circuit abit la. Then my mom rocked him in her arm instead - human sarung ;)

This is their lot angpows for this CNY. Yes, they are rich than us now.

Please ignore the sexy legs :)

Still couldn't believe I am a mother of 2 now. 2 boys. 2 naughty boys. Can't wait for Caven to grow up so that both of them could play together and quit bugging me. I know i know, i might regret what I've said the moment they really grow up and ditch me.

Happy snake year 2013. May all of my friends be blessed with good health and good fortune.

The Confinement Centre - Bonda Villa (New update)

Just realised that I did not update my blog for more than a month now. Life has been very very busy, with one energetic toddler and one crying-baby-needs-to-carry-all-the-time. Really tired :( Luckily my mother-in-law is helping me with housework, else I'll end up Tanjung Rambutan real fast.

Ok, time for me to blog about this amazing place. The confinement centre which I've stayed for 28days - BONDA VILLA

Bonda Villa is the first breastfeeding friendly confinement centre in Malaysia, which explained why I choose to come here in the first place. I am determined to breastfeed my baby this time, 100% breastfeed. I am so ready to sacrifice my sleep, my boobs and my freedom. See? Isn't Mother the greatest creature human being of all?

Sons (when you are big enough to understand and if you happen to read this): Treasure your mother, ok? Endure all her nagging and fussiness when she is old because you know what? Your crying and fussiness when you were a baby is 100x more jia lat than what you are facing now.

Anyway......back to the topic ya :)

I went straight to the confinement centre after I've discharged from the hospital. Was warmly greeted by Gina Yong at the doorstep. By the way, Gina is a Certified Lactation Consultant and also a founder/CEO of Bonda Villa along with 2 other friends.

This is my room. Room no. 3

Welcome in....

A Getha queen-sized bed with 4 comfy pillows and one nursing pillow. Isn't this nice? Just like staying in one of those resort/hotel.

This picture is more professional taken (picture from Bonda Villa Facebook website)

Baby changing station... (by the way, they provided Buds toiletries for baby)

The washroom. My very own washroom :) with a bathtub. Too bad, I can't use it.

Mummy's toiletries provided by Bonda Villa. Esmeria Organics body and haircare product :)

A classic baby cot. I seldom use this at night as Caven is co sleeping with me. Easier for me to keep an eyes on him and to breastfeed at night. But still, I love this baby cot.

This is Caven sleeping in it during daytime....snugly wrapped up. He just sleep better when I swaddled him.

Now let's talk about food. Yum yum.....
Caution: don't say I didn't warn you. Delicious pictures ahead, just don't lick the screen, k?

In Bonda Villa, they served 6 meals per day. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon dessert, dinner and supper. Doesn't feel hungry at all. For the first few days, I had my meals in my room - 'On the bed' style.
My first dinner. Had it on my bed :)
Black bean soup, organic brown rice, dry curry pork slice, vege and an apple

And every other meal that served....
Dinner: Forgot-what-soup, organic brown rice, chicken wine, vege and grapes

Chicken wine with black fungus and ginger. NICE........

Afternoon dessert: Black glutinous rice with red bean.

Afternoon dessert: White fungus with sweet potatoes.

Afternoon dessert: Papaya with white fungus and a slice of banana cake.

Breakfast: Blueberry pancake with milo

Breakfast: Fried meehoon with fuchok

Breakfast: A bowl of tangyuen (glutinous rice balls) with longan. This was served during winter solstice day. So thoughtful right? :)

Breakfast: Mee suah with fried egg with ginger, with a baby sleep at the back :)

Breakfast: Organic cereal comes with pine nuts, raisins and cranberries
and a cup of organic soy milk

One of the soup served - Chinese lotus soup with peanuts

Dinner: Black pepper salmon. Wuhoooo!!

And this is the main highlight during my stay there. My eyes nearly popped out when I saw it on our dining table.

Buddha jumping over the wall!!
There are chicken, abalone, scallops, cordyceps, mushrooms and pig stomach in the soup.

Honestly, I never had this before in my life. It was really sweet and flavourful. Geng stuffs. Good stuffs. And I had it in confinement centre. :p

Beside awesome foods and room, all the post-natal nurses are really friendly. 24 hours room service. They help you bathing the baby, changing wet nappies, burping, soothing and taking care of the baby at night outside your room so that you can have plenty of rest. When it's time to feed, they will bring the baby to you again.

Gina and Shirley helped me alot in breastfeeding my baby. And yes, like everybody else, I'm so doubtful of myself initially (I have milk ka? I really have milk ka?) and a few bumps and hiccups with Caven's poor latching, low milk supply, no poos from Caven for 1 week which scared the hell out of me and sore nipples. With Gina's advices, I managed to pull through all that and successfully 100% breastfeed Caven. Now, I'm still breastfeed him and love his 'milk drunk' face everytime after feed.
