Yamagoya Ramen @ Setia Walk

10 days to go...

Last few days ago, we went to Yamagoya Ramen at Setiawalk Puchong for my ramen's craving (although jk was very very reluctant to go, haha, and he don't have a choice)

I don't know what is so special about them but the outlook of their shop seems to have a very Japanese authentic thingy. So, I guess they wouldn't fail me with their ramen in hot soup, right? No harm in giving them a try thou....

Pic source here

And it turned out to be really good. We both ordered one of their signature ramen called Mukashi Special Ramen @ freaking!!! RM24 comprising of 2 thin slices of char siu, seasoned egg (this one is REALLY good!!), 1 piece of seaweed, bean sprout, wood ear fungus, spring onions and bamboo shoots in tonkotsu broth.

Just found out that the tonkotsu broth is made from pork bones as the main ingredients, cooked and boiled for a long time over an extremely high heat and such method of cooking will releases the bone marrow into the broth.

Yes, it was really really good. I can't help but sipping the soup almost to the end. But the ramen was toooo little for me. Hardly filled me up... :( Maybe next time I'll ask for more ramen. Mmmm......if only the have such thing. Haha....

Looking at the price, I would say I'll have a second thought when I'm thinking of having ramen here. But having it during a cold rainy night is just really really awesome.

jk: you are really a high maintence wife ler, I need to think of ways to find more 'coins' - qoute from Caleb.

me: so, just be a duck la, ok? me and Caleb go back first. Call me after you've done. :))

Caleb: Yeah! High-five!.... Opps, I high-five my face.

@ 36 weeks

12 days to go...

My baby is a spicy baby. I'm not talking about Caleb, I'm talking about the baby inside me. My taste bud somehow prefer spicy sambal, curry, cili padi and other hot and spicy stuffs which was really crazy. At times, I'm worried if my baby can take it or jumping up and down inside :)

Yesterday, I ate mee goreng with spicy sambal. That was really really spicy and I had heartburn whole day. I kept on burping and even had difficulty in breathing. I can't sit, I can't lie down, I can't stand and it got me really annoyed. So, from now on, I shall refrain myself from spicy stuffs and drink more coconut water. I'm quite worried if didi's skin would be full with heat rashes all over.

Anyway,  we went for weekly check up last Friday and was told by my Obs that baby is good, amniotic fluid is sufficient, position with the head down but not yet engaged. Aiyo, not yet engaged but I've already walking like a penguin, what if he engaged? Mmmm.......

From now on, my toilet trips around 5 times at night. Sleepless night? YES. And if I've been sleeping on one side for too long, my leg and shoulder would be numb, so I have constantly turn around. But moving around is not easy, not like just snapping your fingers. I have to get up and adjust myself SLOOOWWWWLY....... before turning to another side (drastic movement cause my tummy tightening). 12 days to go, 12 days to go, 12 days to go.....(chanting to myself)

Recently I have this craving for cupcakes. Not those fancy cupcakes with lot fully decorated fondant sugar.

I like this. Mighty White Cupcake......

You can find it in 7-11 or Petronas mini mart.

Haha...talking about weird, right?

I got my Octopus at last...

15 days to go....

Yesterday we went for a short trip to Ikea. Ikea always full of people on weekends and I don't know why we chooses to go there yesterday. Ikea is one successful furniture shop, don't you think? Everybody loves shopping in Ikea but I don't see other furniture shop full to the brim with people, not even weekend.

So, we went to check out some single bed because we are going to revamp our store room aka rubbish-dumping room into baby&mother's room. Sounds great. The baby is going to room in with the mother and the father and Caleb won't get startled to baby's yelling. Everybody is doing housekeeping, cleaning, throwing, clearing including my BIL. Hahaha....Nesting effect affected the whole living things in the house :)

Anyway, the best thing is I got my hands on these:

The Octopus!! Looking like this when opened up....

Anyway, jk went to outstation today. When Caleb saw his dadi changing inside the room.

Caleb: Dadi, are you go working?

Jk: Yes, dadi got work today.

Caleb: Noooo, dadi don't go working ok? We go kai kai eat eat.

Jk: It's not a choice. Dadi still have to go work.

Caleb: Is dadi go work and find coins?

Jk: Find coins? Hahahaha.....

Me: Yes, he means money.

Jk: Yes, yes....dadi go find coins.

At last he seems satisfied with the answer and he replied ok and went to the door farewell and kissed his dadi.

Oh my sweet baby hor.... :D

Caleb's lunch

18 days to go....

Oppsie, I missed a post yesterday. There isn't much thing to tell anyway. It's always been routine for me, everyday.

Today, I cooked this for Caleb's lunch. It's actually pumpkin and carrot porridge and Japanese tofu with ginger and minced meat. Quite nice, no complaint. I'll cook something like this if I'm in the mood. If I'm not, then I'll just dump everything into the porridge. Yes, everything. Rice, pumpkin, carrot, minced meat, tofu, ginger and spring onion. Half an hour later and voila! All done.

Caleb is a Bandaraya, basically he eat everything.

This dish remind me of my mom's cooking. My mom said this is kid's favourite dish because there are tofu, meat and gravy to go with rice, except she don't use Japanese tofu. She'll use white tofu instead as she said Japanese tofu is full of preservative craps.

BMS Organics Black Sesame Cube

20 days to go...

I bought these 2 bottles of black sesame cube from BMS Organic store few days ago. One is Black Sesame Cube and another one with pumpkin. The price is about RM9 for one bottle after 10% discount. Not cheap eh?

left-black sesame pumpkin cube; right-black sesame cube

They are quite nice actually. Very fragrant and not overly sweet. Caleb loves them to bits! He ate about 10 cubes of those everyday. I'm worried if he might over-dosed on black sesame soon. A quick check on the Internet, it shows that black sesame seeds are an extremely good source of calcium, protein, phosphorous, iron and magnesium. They are used to treat constipation and promote regular bowel movements. No wonder la, Caleb poo-ed a lot today and his stools were charcoal black. I started got worried because normally his stools is dark yellow. Then I remembered that he ate 20 cubes yesterday. 3 cubes in the morning, 10 with lunch and another 7-8 with dinner.

The ingredients...

I think I need to start taking those cubes. Having some difficulty in the toilet recently..........

Food in Bentong - part1

21 days to go...

Oh my, when I looked at the date, it made me realise that I'm gonna see my baby face to face in 3 weeks time! How excited......except all the needle poking part. Haiii.....sorry for repeat this again, I'm really really really x10 terrified of those needles la. But I guess there's not turning back now. It's just one way ticket now.

I was going through my album and I saw this wan ton meen pictures. Ohhh.....I'm missing it like crazy now.

This is the most delicious wan ton meen in my hometown. The noodles is springy, the sauce is just right and I love the char siew very much. And the dumplings......it's silky smooth outer skin wrapped with mince meat. So gooooodddd!!

Somebody? Somebody going back to bentong this weekend? Can tapau for me???

I don't know what to write for the title...

22 days to go...

Today I went out to have lunch with one of my best friend, with Caleb tagging along of course. So, we sat down and talked and talked and talked about anything and everything. It's good to meet up with a friend or two once in awhile because it takes my mind off birth anxiety ( I can't wait to see my baby but I dreaded the needles poking part), how our family going to multiply from 3 to 4 soon, how to cope with one active/demanding toddler and a baby (I'm praying hard that this baby is going to be an easy one for me...god please have mercy) and so on......

Anyway, right before we wanted to go home, heavy rain was pouring. I'm not worried on how to get into the car because I parked it at basement. I'm worried about how to get off the car and walk into our apartment building with me walking like a penguin and one kid on tow without getting wet. Luckily I always kept one raincoat in the car, Caleb's size, just for emergency.

So, I told him, "Caleb. it's raining now, Mami put raincoat on you, ok? so that you won't get wet." He said ok. I wrapped him up in the car, took one huge umbrella, gather a huge courage before stepping out into the rain, opened up the passenger door to let Caleb come out. Wowww....I tell you, the rain was NASTY. My shirt and pant were drench the minute I stepped out. I was holding his hand and one hand managing the umbrella. Strong wind doesn't help at all........

Caleb quietly walked beside me. At last when we reached our apartment building, he said "OH MY GOODNESS...." I asked him why. He said, "YOU SEE, MY SHOES IS WET. THIS IS NOT GOOD!"

Hahahaha.........and he kept on complaining and complaining until we reached home.

Yes, he hate wet shoes.

Roasted chicken rice with siew yok

23 days to go...

My bro-in-law tapau this roasted chicken rice with siew yok for me just now and I had it for lunch (and I had nasi lemak and 2 slices of roti bakar with a lot of kaya and butter for breakfast 3 hours ago). Wtf...I'm going to become a freaking fat lady with huge tummy and a big ass whale. Then I think of how I wish to go for a beach holiday and wearing bikini for once. Last time I didnt dare to wear it because I think I have small breast and big ass. But now, I think I have big breast with huge cleavage (yay!!) and even BIGGER ass. Sigh.........I guess I could never wear a bikini, anymore :(  So sad.......

So, I thought I'd finished up the chicken and roasted pork and eat less of the rice. Afterall, meat equals to protein and I need extra protien for baby's development right? End up I finished the rice......and the chicken........and roasted pork as well. Die lor..........

24 days to go...

24 days to go....

It was so hot today. In fact the weather is so hot everyday that I'm feeling like my body is exploding. My ceiling fan already kaput. Basically you can't even tell if you've already switched it on or not. So, now we are relying on one table fan that I've put on the floor to make the house bearable......

Today I can't stand it. I switched on the air con and the table fan and the ceiling fan (it does a little contribution although not much). Ahhh....that feel so much better. Then I remember I haven't cook lunch for Caleb. Darn! With the whole house feeling so comfortable, I don't want to ruin it with oily/stir-fried smell. So, I made simple kon lou meen (dry noddle) with minced pork and egg.

How I made it?

First I blanched the noodle. Then I blanched the minced pork and lastly I blanched the egg. Hahaha....Everything using the same pot of boiling water. Of course I add a bit of seasoning like thick soy sauce, light soy sauce, sesame oil, lil pepper and spoonful of garlic oil. Mmmm...yum yum.

The verdict? Caleb said "yummmmm......niceeee"

:))

Wondermama @ Bangsar

25 days to go...

Once in awhile, we would try out some eatery place that is not in Puchong. Some places I found out at blogger's blog and some were recommended by friends.

So, this place that we are going to find out is Wondermama situated at Bangsar Village 1, beside Plan B restaurant.

One thing about this Wondermama is they have the most old school and retro decor you could possibly imagine. Kinda reminded me back when I was in my childhood.
Have you ever played this before? I'm sure you have if you were born in the '70s or the '80s in those small town or kampung :)

pic source here

Anyway, we both (plus Caleb) reached there at around 11am. By that time, it they were serving breakfast and the option are quite minimal. We asked for normal ala carte menu but the waitress said it have to be after 11:30am. So, since we are barbarian and very stubborn, we just sat there doing nothing and wait until 11:30am. (I wished too) So, we just ordered from the breakfast menu.

While waiting, we had a few pieces of Nyoya kuihs - @RM1.50 per piece. Wahh....

Surprisingly, they were good! Just like how my Ah Ma used to do. Btw, my grandmother is a Nyoya descendant, that's why she made the most authentic Nyoya kuihs. Oh, how I missed her now :(

For tea time, they are having some sort of promotion now. 20% off on drinks, roti bakar, cakes and buy 1 free 1 kuih. Good eh?

I had nasi lemak, weird nasi lemak. I have not had my nasi lemak with fried mackerel fish and pok choy vege before. Have you?

At least I liked their sambal and anchovies.

Jk had mee goreng mamak with fried chicken. That piece of fried chicken looks good but jk said it was just so-so.

We were not satisfied with the selection on their breakfast menu and we went back again 2 weeks later. This time we purposely delay until 12pm. haahaa.... and yes, we got on hold of their lunch menu. Yay!
And I ordered WonderMama Breakfast Set. Lol!!! Never imagined that they had breakfast set in their lunch menu eh?

Jk ordered their salted fried rice. I had a spoonful and guess what? The fried rice using salt as the main ingredient instead of rice. It was so so so salty..... haiyo!

We ordered fried squid as side dish to share and it was ok. Nothing to shout about.....

Our drinks.... A cup of cham and ice coffee with jelly. Just normal....

While many bloggers praise highly on their foods, we just found it to be just ok. Over-rated? Mmm....I don't know. Maybe we ordered all the wrong food selections. At least they have the most awesome Nyoya kuih in town.

Caleb is having fever now...

26 days to go....

Caleb was having a mild fever yesterday around noon. I don't know what goes wrong. Maybe it's the weather or something he ate the day before or that morning. Btw, he whacked 2 pancakes at Tappers for breakfast but I don't think that's the culprit. Maybe he didn't drink enough water. At home, I need to yell at him ask him to drink more water but when he's in school, most days he come back with an empty bottle. Another reason why I like him to be in school :)

Anyway, I didn't feed him with any medicine. Just one tablet of 500mg Vitamin C and a lot of water and I put a wet handkerchief on his forehead throughout the night. Turned out, I had a headache whole morning because I couldn't sleep well the whole night, it's like constantly I need to check his temperature, put wet hanky, touched his body if he got cold hands or feet, listening to his breathing, put blanket for him which he'd kicked off the next minute. Phewww...that was really tired.

I just tucked him in for afternoon nap. His forehead is a bit hot. Yawnnnn....it's going to be sleepless night for me again.

My tea time today, I whacked a packet of Mister Potato (Hot and Spicy) and I drank root beer. Ahhhh.....bliss.

The story about instant noodle with lucheon meat and egg

27 days to go....

Today I'm craving for instant noodle with luncheon meat and egg. No, not those homecook but one that selling in Wong Kok Char Chan Teng or Kim Gary those kind of shop. Actually I've been craving that since last Saturday but due to we were back in hometown, I couldn't have it.

So, since today is Deepavali public holiday and Caleb don't have to go to school, we went to Setia Walk slightly later to have our breakfast at Wong Kok. Why Wong Kok? Well, that is the nearest within our vicinity and we are too lazy to go further and Wong Kok serve pork! (Old town don't serve pork, ok).

Anyway, we reached there around 10:40am but they haven't open for business.

They open at 12pm, wtf!!

Why oh why on earth they are opening so late? Today is public holiday, ok? Public holiday, people are suppose to wake up early and go have breakfast with family, ok? That's called family-bonding. Grrrrr.....
(pardon for the unstable mind)

At last we settled in Tappers. I don't know why I don't fancy gwai lo's food for this pregnancy. Be it breakfast or lunch or dinner. I just don't fancy sausages, egg, bread, spaghetti, burgers (except McDonald's Spicy Chicken McDeluxe). It just doesn't seem satisfied or fulfilling. All I want is rice, rice, rice and noodles. Oh no! The baby is going to be Cinapek, just like jk....... ohhhh......

Just now, I've just cooked a packet of Maggi Mee.

See? This is what pregnancy can do to you. When you say you want it, you are having it no matter what. It doesn't matter if it fills all the criteria (in this case, I don't have luncheon meat and egg) you needed, you just gonna have ONE!

So, is it satisfied at last? Nope, not really :(

I still want to have my instant noodle with luncheon meat and egg.

More laundry to do....

28 days to go...

We went back to Bentong the last weekend for final packing because after this trip, we won't be going back anymore, right until I've delivered. The earliest we will be going back again maybe is after baby's full month. Picking and packing those hand-me-down baby's clothing from SIL in Singapore and brought back 3 big bags. I guess right until 1 year my baby will have sufficient clothing to wear. No more buying already.

Anyway, my mom did some washing for me but still I got a hell lot more washing need to do back at home. My mom only washed all those white lampin and for the rest like nb clothing, mitten & booties, bibs, pants, I need to wash them at home.

I wonder how to hang them dry, they are so so so tiny. It's been a while since I need to handle them like a piece of cracker. Oh wait, even cracker is bigger than those mittens and booties. :)

That is why I'm planning to get one of this from Ikea. They called this an 'octopus' maybe due to it has 8 arms. It's nice and compact and easily to fold up when not in use.

Jk, buy this one ah... (let me bold it in red, hah!)

PRESSA Hanging dryer 16 clothes peg (RM19.90)

And there's one more thing. I like this drying rack. It's tall and fit very well in our yard (as you know, my yard's space isn't very big), just nice to hang those white lampin and little hanky and clothes. And when there's not much laundry to hang, it can be fold into half to stand against wall or fold flat for easy storage.

MULIG Drying rack, 4 level, white (RM119)

Good eh?

Bi weekly check-up and a little painting

31 days to go...

Went to my bi-weekly check up this morning. My Obs informed us that he already booked the Operation Theater to perform my C-sect on 10th Dec, 3pm. He told us to be in the hospital at 10am and last meal before 9:45am. No food and drink after that. Not even water. Chish.....you bet I'm gonna have my nasi lemak ayam goreng on that morning and a cup of White Coffee or nescafe ice. Hmmpph....One month confinement with no coffee intake can be really torturous since coffee is my daily drug.... :(

Anyway, baby is healthy. I asked if my baby is too big, my Obs replied "Well, one thing for sure, he is not small lor". Darn, why can't he answer me straight. Fyi, this doctor always tease me when I asked him something.

Upon scanning, baby's weight slightly more than 2.6kg. In just 2 weeks, he already gained 600g. I wonder how my tummy can complied with his growth now and another month. My stomach, kidneys, intestines, liver must have squash down by the baby. I hope they can work perfectly normal again when the baby is out.

Me and Caleb did some coloring yesterday out of boredom. So first I took a large piece of mahjong paper and stick it on the floor. Scribbled some pictures and shapes in it. I know, my drawing is a little retarded.

Anyway, he loves painting very very (x10) much. He could forgot about everything when you mentioned "Do you want to paint?" His smile never failed to light up on his face.

Just like this...

I'm not satisfied with the smile so I asked him to smile nicely again. Then he gave me this smile. Ok, better.

Half an hour later, this what came up. Of cox with a little help from me.

I especially like the apple tree. Nice huh?

Satisfied look on the face...

and he is a happy boy :)

33 days to go : Rubbish talk

33 days to go....

This is my 1st tea time (because I might nibble something later on, maybe a packet of WISE potato chips with a cup of milo+milk.). I ate these 2 pieces of toasted bread with butter and rasberry jam at 2pm and by 3pm after I've tucked Caleb in for his afternoon nap, I ate another 2 pieces again. Wow....I don't remember I can eat so much bread in one day.......

So, for this month, I'll try to write everyday and counting down the days. I guess I'll write rubbish and more rubbish... Haha....where got so many things to write down everyday right? So, it's ok if you decided not to drop by my blog anymore because the more you drop by, the more craps you'll gonna see..... Hahaha...

Oh well, craps begin....

Oh, there's one thing I'd like to show you. I cooked a big pot of porridge for dinner last night. Pork ribs porridge, yummm.....it's nice. Pork ribs were tender and porridge was sweet. Nice. Anyway, that is not what I want to tell you here.....

I cooked the porride after Caleb woke up from his afternoon nap. I asked him if he wants some bread with cheese. He said "YES!!" Ok, and I took one piece of bread and sandwiched it with a slie of cheese. I wanted to give it to him this way but I worried the slice of cheese might fall off. So, I wanted to melt the cheese and suddenly I got this idea on how to melt the cheese inside the bread.

Clam the bread with this clamper (hahaha, I don't know what this call) and put it on top of the big bowl of porridge. The steam from porridge will slowly melt the cheese. Hahahaha......

The cheese melted beautifully.....

Actually I was praying hard not to let the bread fall down into my pot of porridge. If that happened, I guess we wont be having pork ribs porridge last night :)

Counting the days

34 days to go...

We have decided to get the baby out on 10th Dec 2012. But I have a strange feeling that baby is going to pop out any moment soon. Probably due to his drastic movements... Thank god, one article that I've read few days ago said that baby's head is now resting on the cervix and it may feel like something going to fall out from vagina but so far no baby ever reported of fallen out unexpectedly. Phewww....

Why 10th December? Well, we didnt know if this is a good feng shui date or not but one thing for sure, this date is the most convenient for us. So we assumed 10th is a good date..... First of all, it's Monday. It's a weekday and there'll be no traffic jam. (*cross finger* - I know how unpredictable traffic have been in KL)

Second, I think we can easily get a single bedroom during hospital stay since everybody will be eyeing on the 12/12/12 (to have their baby taken out if there is any pre-planned C-sect) which fall on Wednesday. I don't like sharing especially the toilet and it would be convenient for jk too if he decided staying over to accompany me.

So, I officially have 34 days to go. Sighh...there's still so many things to do and to pack. Some baby clothing and necessities are still in my hometown, untouched, since....... 3 years ago?

My own version of healthy pizza bread

Once in awhile, when i don't have any idea what to cook for lunch, I'd make sandwich for Caleb. Luckily this guy is not a picky eater. He basically walloped anything, yupe, like DBKL.

So, this is what he had for lunch. My own version of pizza bread. Weird right? No sausage. Well, I don't really allow him to eat hot dog/sausage at his young age due to preservatives. artificial flavor, artificial coloring, artificial meat component (well, who knows right?) and dunno what else they put it in there.

I just spread a lil bit of ketchup as the base, lettuce, steamed broccoli, tofu (hahaha) and shredded scrambled egg. Finally topped with a slice of cheddar cheese and into the oven they went.

Yes, it is weird pizza. But who cares, as long as my 'boss' didn't complained and whacked almost all of them.

Hahaha.....I'm so blessed to have a kid who doesn't picky on food.

Mmmmm......not yet I pressumed. (**praying hard**)
