Caleb went crazy...

Jk went out to tapau chicken rice this morning and since I don't feel like eating one, I told him to skipped my portion. So, after Jk changed into 'kai kai' clothing, Caleb went to him and hugged his leg tightly. "Cay-ler go kai kai, Cay-ler go kai kai" - means he want to tag along too.

Since the father didn't want to disappoint his son's request, so ok-la, the father and son happily went out tapau together. Me and my mom in law also happily stayed at home doing our own stuffs without Caleb disturbing us. :)

After 30 minutes, I heard somebody shouting my name. Aiyo, so loud until the the whole apartment know my name. "Open the door! Open the door!". Shocked.... I quickly open the door and I saw jk was carrying Caleb while struggling with 2 boxes of chicken rice in hand. Caleb was crying, the both eyes were red, saliva and tears filled up the whole face. Aii yai yai...what happen?

I opened the door for them and Jk passed Caleb to me. He was crying, yelling and going haywire. I hate to say this but I thought he was possessed. I tried to calm him down and asked him what happen, what he want. He just said: 'yeh-yeh, want yeh-yeh, car-car, see yeh-yeh'. (Yeh-yeh is his grandpa, jk's dad)

Eventually, somehow, don't know why, Caleb have this thinking that Jk gonna bring him back hometown to visit yeh-yeh. So when they reached the kopitiam shop selling chicken rice, he started yelling on top of his voice, "No, no, no...dadi sit sit" and don't let jk stepped out from the car. Jk managed to order tapau and came back home while Caleb was still screaming on top of this lung for yeh-yeh. Back home, nothing seems to calm him down. Crying and shouting he wants to go back to the car. No choice, I carried him, took car keys and went down.

Down at my apartment, he saw birds flying and stopped crying. He said "bird fly", I said "yes, bird fly back home, you wanna go back?". He said: "Noooo..." Ok, fine. Next trick. I let him sit on bench and continue watching bird flying around. After awhile, when he is more settle down:

Me: "come, let's go back we eat ice cream ok?".... "Noooo"

Me: "kiwi?" .... "Noooo"

Me: "orange juice?" .... "Noooo"

Me: "belacan kangkung?" .... "Noooo" - with a chuckle (mmm...that's a good sign)

Me: "Kung pou chicken?" .... :Noooo" - bigger chuckle (:D)

Me: "Koo lou yuk?" ..... "Noooo" - start laughing

Me: "come , let's go back, we play bubble with turtle, whale, octopus and frog, ok?

Silent....... (even silent is a good sign)

Me: Mami blow bubble for you.....turtle blow....octopus blow.....bla bla bla...

And he finally NODDED.

Phewwww.......

And we went back.

(sometimes, baby has crazy temper.....)

Homemade Ice Cream (without ice cream maker)

"Ice cream also you know how to make?"

That was that my friend commented on the ice cream picture that I have posted in FB.

Hahaha.....

As I've said, cooking and baking is therapeutic for me. I'm head over heels when my baking turned out good. It's even better if somebody willing to clear it off for me so that I do not need to stuff myself silly-ly :)

So since my mom in law with us now, I baked stuffs. Cakes, breads, ice creams, tarts (on the way ^.^) and wow, she really can clear it off for me. Most of the time, she only have one comment for me "mmm...nice, nice, nice.... hahahaha....really :)

Green Tea Ice Cream

The first flavor I did was chocolate and coffee. I dont fancy chocolate actually but that was the only ingredient I have at that time. I only have a spoonful, that's it. My mom in law 'kau tim' all for me. Haha...

Strawberries Ice Cream

It's very easy. Really easy. You do not need to own an ice cream maker to make one. But you need to own a refrigerator. Haha.... sorry, lame joke.

Anyway, if you want to try it on your own, here is the recipe:

For green tea ice cream:
360ml whipping cream
180ml fresh milk
25g green tea powder
75g sugar
2 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon gelatin powder

- Bring whipping cream, milk and green tea powder in a saucepan to a boil on medium heat. Stir occasionally. Off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- On another bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar and gelatin until well combined.
- Pour 1/4 of the hot cream mixture into egg mixture. Whisk immediately to prevent cooking. Pour in another 1/4 and whisk. Lastly pour the remaining cream mixture and whisk.
- Sieve mixture back into saucepan. Cook on medium low heat until mixture thicken. Do not bring it to boil or else you'll end up with gritty ice cream.
- Pour everything into a bowl, let it cool and put it into freezer.
- When a ring of ice has formed, bring it out and whack it with a fork. Put it back into the freezer. Repeat this procedure 3-4 times until you have a creamy ice cream.
- Transfer the ice cream into freezable containers and freeze until hard.

For strawberries ice cream:
140g strawberries puree (or any other fruits also no problem)
2-3 tablespoons of sugar (if you have sour strawberries, you can put more sugar)
3 eggs yolks
200ml whipping cream
250ml fresh milk

- Bring whipping cream and milk in a saucepan to a boil on medium heat. Stir occasionally. Off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- On another bowl, beat egg yolks, sugar and strawberries puree until well combined.

Cream and egg mixture cook under medium low heat. Whisk occasionally.

First time whacking after ring has formed.

Happy trying.....

My simple lunch

I had this for lunch today. High-class instant noodle. If I remember correctly one packet was priced at RM3-4. Korean instant noodle; darn big and fat.

I cooked it with 2 crabsticks (my favorite) and few pieces of iceberg lettuce (my favorite too). My mom in law cooked potatoes with chicken in light and dark soya sauce. Took a few pieces too :)

Nice....

Air Bouncer
Kids' favourite huge air beach castle for endless fun!
We lured Caleb to play on the air bouncer. It was fun, but he didn't like it. He went down after playing for 30 seconds.

Caleb's most favourite slide. When he was up there, he'd request to go down either yellow or blue or orange.

First when we saw the huge slide, me and Caleb was 'wahhhh' ing..... Macam kambing masuk kampung - Lolz

But before we could go up the slide, first we need to get up. But how? There were no stairs leading up.
One supervisor on duty saw us 'sap ha sap ha' (blur-blur) and she said "ma'am, you can go up with your kid". Then I said "Ok, but where can I go up?" She said "You can go up anywhere" ... and me was like "Hah?!"

She was right.

Yea, start climbing from down there and it's all connected. You can start climbing up from right and you can end up to the left. "Every road connect to Rome" - hahaha....I'm sure you know what I mean. :))

Padi House @ Sri Petaling

When it come looking for food outside our comfort zone (means in Puchong), we wouldn't bother to take Sri Petaling into our consideration. Of course until one fine day, my best friend took me there for dinner. There are so many eatery shops mushrooming as if I've stepped into another Bandar Puteri or Taipan area.

We went there for lunch today after picked up my mil at Bukit Jalil LRT station. We didn't know which shop taste better than other, so we randomly choose one.

PADI HOUSE. Catchy name, dont you think?

I think this is a very sweet picture of son and father :)
It's an open-air concept cafe which provide a quite comfy setting and the interior were furnished with a landscaped fish pond. Caleb was ecstatic when he saw all those fishy-fishy swimming around.

A lil peek inside their interior.
Personally I like their interior very much. Much more better than Pappa Kopitiam or OldTown. I likey....

Fishes in the pond.

Ordering system is by form and pencil just like Old Town and Pappa which I'm totally fine with. We took our own sweet time in browsing through the menu. I just feel uncomfortable if the waiter/waitress stand beside you, looking and hovering at you when taking order. It's like rushing you through and sometimes I dont even know what is the thing I have ordered.

This is mine. Padi House Chicken Shop Rice @ RM9.90
It was nicely presented and taste good too. Grilled chicken chop with special sauce, rice, sunny side up, 2 spring rolls, coleslaw and a few slices of cucumber and tomato.

Pic source here
I didnt manage to take a decent picture on the food. I'm using Iphone photography apps again and nothing turn out decent. Hahaha......so I just compile all the foods we had in one picture.

Caleb had a few mouthful of tom yum fried rice (hardly detect any tom yum in it) mixed with white rice just to tone down the flavourful taste from the fried rice. Hahaha......pity baby but no choice, I worried that he'd reject my home cooked food next time.

After meal, my mil bring him to see fishes again.....

and later we ordered a dessert cake to share...

Just me and mil eating this. Jk said cheesecake 'busuk' (smelly) wor.... *shook head*

Overall, Padi House served good food and nice, cosy environment.

American Breakfast Pancakes (with mashed bananas)

I made banana pancakes  few days ago for lunch. Caleb's lunch. We are westerner, of course we eat westerner food like bread, mashed potato, mushroom soup for our meal. Unlike the father...lolz, always asked for rice, rice and more rice. Haha....

I found this recipe in the internet but I forgot from which source. A very good recipe because the pancake outcome were awesome. Soft and fluffy.

American Breakfast (or lunch for lazy mommy :)) Pancakes
Ingredients:
225g plain flour
1 tbsp baking powder
pinch of salf
1 teaspoon sugar
2 large eggs, beaten
30g butter melted and cooled (I used sunflower oil)
300ml milk
3-4 bananas, mashed (medium size, I use 'mai chiew'... I dunno who to describe or what it called, go figure :))
butter for frying

Method:
Mix everything in a bowl except the butter for frying. For smoother batter, sieve it.
Scoop one tablespoon of batter to fry in a pan. (My pan can only fit 4 pieces at one time)

What took mami so long in making those pancakes? I'm hungry already ler -_-

Sliced some extra banana to go with it. Oh, and drizzle some honey too... Naise..very naise...

Caleba already climbed up on chair while I'm taking pictures. "Baby...wait...."

Oh and one more thing, do not, I repeat do not press the pancake after you have flipped it. It will cause the pancake become dense and hard. Just flipped it and let it cook slowly on low fire.
Enjoy!
