Caleb is 1 year old + my delivery story

My superbaby already 1 year old.

1 year. I can't believe it.

It was just like yesterday I gave birth to a tiny adorable lil baby who changed my life, physically and mentally.

I just noticed that I didnt blog anything about my delivery, the day when Caleb decided he had enough swimming lesson inside my tummy and come out to greet the world.

Fresh from the oven

So, today I'm going to blog about my labour and delivery which was dated last year, 23rd of July.

A week before my labour, on my final visit to my gynae, he told me to get prepare as baby might coming out by next week. He also told me to go straight to hospital in case I got any one of these symptoms: Spotting, Water Broke and Contraction. But not to wait until these 3 comes together. Well, ok fine.

The next day (friday) we went to Port Dickson and stayed a night there. :) You can read about my trip here.

A few hour later...

Anyway, I talked to my baby that day.
Please let mami enjoy these 2 days ok? Dont come out first ok? You guai guai and mami sayang you more *muaks muaks*

I think he's really listening because while I'm in PD, there was nothing happen until we came back the next day. On Sunday, I saw little blood dot on my panty. As I thought only a little, so, I didnt want to go to the hospital. Later on that day I didnt see any blood coming out again.

The next day, nothing happen. Life as usual woke up, bathed, pangsai'ed', ate breakfast, online, blablabla, bliblibli........

Until Tuesday...
I think I got contractions coming and going, but it just a tingling feeling at my lower abdomen that only lasted for 5 seconds. Interval were irregular like 20 minutes, 15 and sometimes 30 minutes apart.

Later that evening, nothing happen and my life as usual again.... :)

Wednesday came...
This day is a very 'chi kek' day because I got more than just a tingling feeling in the afternoon. More like stomach cramping as if I'm havinga bad period day. So, I jotted down the interval and duration of the contractions. I dont know why I didnt think of going to the hospital that time. Yes, I'm stubborn.

Until evening time, contractions become more and more intensed and frequent. I told jk before we went to bed if i kicked slapped him in the middle of the night, that means I'm in hell of pain or blood gushing out or water flooded the whole bed already and need to go to hospital at ONCE. (hahahaha)

He got so shock and quickly go to sleep.

Thursday :)

Amazingly I slept through the night without any problem but as soon as I woke up around 9:30am, I felt the contraction again. This time was serious. Very intense pain with 5 minutes apart and each contraction last for 15 seconds. I started to get panic and call to hospital and telling them my situation. The nurse on the other line telling me to go to hospital immediately.

So, I told jk, "eh, really need to go hospital already la." He said "ok ok" I quickly bathed, washed hair, packed my bag, changed footy's and caca's tray (all these while with my contraction going on...) Huffing and puffing every 3 minutes. (yea, by now it was 3 minutes apart...OMG)

On the way going to hospital, jk asked me whether want to tapau MCD breakfast or not. Lolz...still can think of food :)

I said "better dont la, contraction is getting very painful leh."

He said "ok, better listen to what the doctor have to say first, if he say can then I go tapau for you, ok?"

:)

Reached SJMC in half an hour. We straight away went to my gynae's clinic and waited outside. I think my face expression said it all because we only waited for 2 minutes and the nurse let me and see doctor.

So, once inside my gynae asked me to lie down and check my dilation. Wah...that checking damn damn painful. More painful then my contraction going on. He said 'not yet open' and after he checked, blood gushing out already. We got a good scolding from him....*yes, dai sei*

Dr: When you got blood spotting?

Me: Err...actually few days ago....

Dr: Tell me exact date.

Me: Yesterday..? (I lied :))

Dr: Then why you didnt come to the hospital? Didnt I told you that if you are having one of the 3 symptoms, you need to come?

Me: ..... (then i pretend I'm in pain, err, doc, cannot talk la..pain) *pass the ball to jk*

Jk: Ohh...she thought a bit only, so it's ok.

Dr: A bit or not a bit, it is still blood. It is either you have it or dont. Then a bit means have or not? Have right? Then why you all didnt come? (didnt I told you that I'm terrified of my gynae like hell?)
I dont know why you guys are soooo reluctant to come to the hospital......
*continue nagging and naggin and nagging....*

Me: *silent* blueekkk...ppl so pain de still want to nag....haiiii

Dr: Need to admit to the labour ward. Go now....

Jk: Labour ward? She can deliver already arr?

Dr: Can't you see she's in a serious contraction?

Both of us... *silent*

Hahahahahha

I was admitted to labour ward at 11am. Was induced instantly using an IV drip the moment I hit the bed. I would say the most terrifiying thing during my whole labour process was I'm being poked for 4 FREAKING DAMN TIMES!!!!!

4 times!!! Can you imagine that?

And the needle used to induce me was a big as my thigh! My glory mercy GOD! I'm having trauma there....wtf wtf wtf

I keep on asking the nurse "eh, sakit tak? hati hati ok, tolong cari baik baik,ok? jangan sakit sangat, ok?"

The nurse also "kan cheong"....hehehe

To cut the story short, I was checked for dilation for 5 damn times after I was being induce but sadly, my opening only 1cm despite my contraction so intense and last for 20 seconds with 90 seconds interval. Wahhh....the feeling soooooooo HIGH!! I hardly can catch my breath.

When I was checked for the 5th time, my water broke with a smelly odour and green in color. Ooohhh.....Caleb pooped inside me. I dont know if this is a good thing or not because when that happened, I need to go for Emergency Caesarian. So, no more contraction and no more poking.
The time showed 1pm. Operation schedule at 3pm. Then nurses coming and going preparing all the necessaries. My contractions still as painful as hell.

I was soon wheeled to C-sect room and before that jk looked at my pale-scary-ghost-like face and assured me that everything is going to be fine. I can see he's worried too....

Before going inside the Operation Room, Dr. 'Anaesthetician' (sorry, I hardly can remember her name, but she is a very nice young lady) explained to me each anaesthetic which I can choose between Partially or Fully knocked out. The only thing in my mind is "Can I know how big is the needle?" "Which one is more painful?"
I wished somebody can knocked me on my head and make me faint at that moment.

That is my only concern. Now you can really know how terrifying me of NEEDLE! hahaha

I choosed partially and I got 2 jab on my backbone. After the jab, I'm so relieved of the pain. Yay...no more pain...

15 minutes later, they pulled Caleb out from me and I can see him for the first time. Yes, I'm excited and over whelming :) nearly want to cry...
The nurse took  him to me and I kissed him on the forehead before they took him away for cleaning and wrapping and also before taking him out to see his Dadi.

Yes, I think this post is the longest post that I've written. There was still here and there incident but I'll try to blog about it next time.

And how, my superbaby already woke up from his nap.

Need to entertain him already...

Here, enjoy his pictures.

See what happen to my blog...

Aiyer....see what happen to my blog. So ugly now....

The last free template that I've used was expired and now I'm left with an ugly one... booo :(

I need to find another free template to beautifying my blog, but seem like I dont have the time to do it.

Yea, with superbaby around, even my poo'ing' process takes only 2 min. *flush and done*

If you can rent, why buy?

Baby's toy are so expensive nowaday and seems like every manufacturer outdo each other aiming to produce toys that can turn a baby into Einstein. I don't exactly know how true they are but I guess every parent only want the best for their baby. I am no exception.

Function of baby's toy mainly is to stimulate the senses, particularly the senses of sight, sound and touch. That is why baby toys are colorful, textured and making so much noise. Picking the right one is definitely not easy.

I bought a few toys for Caleb since birth and sadly they need to change constantly to suit his growth. That means money in my piggy bank need to grow as well.

This I bought through online baby store when he was 2 months old.

Fisher Price 2 in 1 Musical Turtle Gym

He is not playing anymore. But when he see it, he'd crawl towards it and start tearing, pulling, slapping....more like want to demolish the whole thing rather than want to play with it. So, I've kept it inside the store room away from his sight.

I bought "Rock A Stack" from Fisher Price when he was 7 months old. Yupe, fisher price again. I love fisher-price :)

It's been around for ages as I remember playing with it when I was a baby. Haha....my memory so geng, from baby until now still remember. Nola, I think I took a picture with this toy with me. So I assumed I must be played with it before :)

Anyway, Rock-A-Stack helps babies develop coordination as they learn to stack the rings (we always refer the rings as 'the doughnuts') in the proper order. The rings also can help in teething, stimulating senses and also developing motor skills.

At first he'd just pour all the rings out, scattering everywhere, throwing and biting them,  Occasionally he just crawl with them, hand grasping the rings and crawling. Until few weeks ago, he took one of the rings in hand and aiming towards the yellow pole.

Wah...I'm so happy and of course I encourage him to stack it. At first I helped him abit adjusting the pole, make it easier for him and when he successfully stack it on, I yelled, clapped and waved my hands (so excited, better than winning a 4D) like crazy mom. Haha..just exaggerate only. Just let him 'syiok' abit then he has motivation do more.

He started stacking them one by one but sometimes he just got frustrated throwing the whole thing down and  crawl away. The next day I let him try again and again and again. Hahaha...and now he's so expert in stacking all the rings in the pole. Just that he still dont know the sequence.

Anyway, I'm happy :)

Last week I came across Rent-a-Toy website that rent out toys (duhh...obvious la... :D)

I should have found this earlier because Caleb will be a very happy baby. They have all sort of things from books to walker and even panel to form a play yard. All at a very affordable rental price.

For the first time, I rent this:

Evenflo Mega ExerSaucer

The tearing part of the label

As you can see, there are a bunch of toys loaded around the tray and baby sit in the center can bounces, rocks and swivels...

Let me introduce Caleb's friends one by one :)

1. A rhino hugging on a mirror ( i think it is a rhino thou..)

2. A hanging tarzan bear.

3. A safari truck loaded with 15 different songs. Caleb so expert in pressing the middle button for a song and when the song ended, he'll go and press again.

4. An 'E' teether which smeared with Caleb's saliva (yuck!)

5. A very thin giraffe. Not enough eat lar..

6. I dont know what is it. I guess it is a bear with faded face and have 3 segments of the body which numbered 1, 2, 3

7. A see-through ball filled with tiny little balls inside. Roll it and you can see tiny balls inside rolling too. Cause and effect huh.....

8. A peek-a-boo lion. Roarrrrr!!

Mega Exersaucer is 'useful, serve its purpose' for a good half and hour. Pacat thinks that his mami and dadi are so naive (ok, only mami la, the dadi got nothing to do with this :p) that this thingy can make him stay and stop messing around.

Well, dream on!! I'm super-baby, you know!

Mami busy, you eat yourself ok?

I read from somewhere that when baby is 1 year-old, they can be trained for self-feeding.

So I decided to give Caleb a chance to show me what he got or what mess he's going to create.

First, put porridge into a plastic container.

Second, give him a spoon. Make sure he show interest in the spoon.

Third, put on a bib for him. This is a must.

Fourth, let's the show begin.....

Why dont I just show you the end result? (careful, dont pengsan) hahahah

The tray, the floor, the high chair and the baby are full with porridge.

Everywhere.....

Conclusion:
1. Yes, he will play with the food.
2. Finger licking is better than using the spoon.
3. Hell more cleaning need to be done than usual. (as if the usual cleaning is not enough :l)
4. Lesson learnt... :)

One mabuk cat...

I forgot to mention one 'mabuk' scene during the dinner on my last post. Nola, not me mabuk. One guy sitting on the same table with us. I always thought that he resemble so much of one actor in TVB. Always play the role of bad guy...

'source from dramaWiki'

He is actually one of jk's badminton/pool/drinking buddy, cousin or good friend of the groom. I forgot which one but anyway, that is not important. Here how it goes.

As you know, typical Chinese wedding dinner, no matter where it held be it local Chinese restaurant or 6-star hotel, there still be a toasting session. The groom and the bride will go round the table and call for a toast. Everybody will stand up, holding on to whatever glass you have at that time, shove it up and YELL on top of your lungs 'YAAAAAAMMMMM SENNNNNGGGGG!!!!'

Heng tais of the groom side and brother or father of the bride side (this normally the guy will do one lar) will  follow them around yelling and drinking together. This is what we call 'back up drinkers'.

Anyway, this guy, i think his name is Wilson (I think so) join in as the back up drinker. After a few rounds of yum seng this guy feeling a bit ding dong already. When he came back to our table, his face flushing like a red tomato giggling uncontrollably to everyone and everything.

Suddenly he asked the waiter for 3 butter knifes. I also puzzled why he need butter knife, somemore 3 butter knife. For what? We were at the final course already, the tong sui and dessert course, and the dessert is red bean pancake. Why need butter knife? Maybe he want to put butter on the pancake qua...who knows right? Anyway, I keep quiet and continue with my tong sui.

Suddenly he looked at me and said something and giggling at the same time. At first I thought the loud surrounding therefore I couldnt hear properly. I said "Sorry, again?" He repeat and giggled again. I laughed and told him "dude, what are you saying? I dont even know what language you're talking to me" My goodness, I think he mixed up hokkien, cantonese and mandrin at the same time.

My god....hahahaha

Okok, not yet finish. Still more....

10 minutes later, waiter came with 3 butter knifes. The waiter put it in front of him. His eye brow drawn together looking at the butter knife and ask the waiter (all these while he is giggling non stop) "why you give me these?"
The waiter also 'siau' already. He said "huh?"

Then Wilson shook  the waiter's hand, asked for his name and introduce himself to the waiter. Wilson praised his good service and prompt action (took butter knife for him la). At this time, all of us laughing so hard.

This mabuk guy was so mabuk that he dont even know what he's saying and doing.

Well, I know all mabuk cat like that. It happened to me once too. But not so jia lat. I can still drived home, parked my car, took keys from my bag, opened the door, dropped my hp one the floor once. Jk at home watching tv said something to me but I dont know what he's saying, dropped my hp again. I giggled and asked him to pick it up for me. Went inside my room, changed and sleep thru the night.

The next day, I couldnt remember how I got back, which highway I used to get back and what jk saying to me....hahahaha. Yes, the only thing I remembered was I dropped my hand twice. Because the next day, my hp goes ding dong mode. My hp mabuk also....

Thinking back, jia lat also ler..

Caleb's first wedding dinner outing

Last night we went for our friend's wedding dinner at KL Hilton situated opposite KL Sentral.

For a start, we were 1/2 hour late. Thanks to the heavy rain and jammed from LDP all the way to Federal Highway. We were stuck inside the car for almost 1h. Jk was really 'pek chek' because of the jam, the rain, the lateness that we were going to be and the migraine.

After we reached the hotel, we couldn't find any parking space. Going round and round for 3 - 4 times still we couldn't find one. Finally we parked beside a pillar.

Illegal parking. But we dont really have a choice. Time is running out and jk's migraine getting worst.

Well, my philosophy is as long as your car didnt obstruct any incoming or ongoing traffic then it's ok. But Jk's philosophy is different. He need to find a decent parking space with neat yellow lines box. Duhh...okok, good citizen. :)

We saw one parking space thou but it is for the handicaps. I asked him to park (bad me huh?) but he said cannot. Must respect handicap people. Ok, fine...until we made 2 more rounds and gave up, trying to find the handicap slot again but it just being parked by a hrmmm...not a handicap person with perfectly normal body and limps. See?

We finally reached the ballroom and saw the bride and the groom ready for their march in. Oooppsss....why everybody so early one? This is the most accurate timing wedding dinner I've ever been. We missed the finger food and cocktail that was served earlier. We missed the photo shooting with the couple too...Sigh...

Jk's migraine was getting real bad to the extend that his hands were shaking and nausea. I was told that panadol was available at some shop inside the hotel. Wasting no time, rushed down get some active fast panadol pay RM7.90 for 8 tablets. So expensive...Well, in this situation even it sell for RM79.90 also need to pay la...right?

I didnt manage to take many pictures mainly because I need to take care of Caleb and eat at the same time. At this time jk went and take a nap inside the bride's resting room. Left me alone with Caleb... :(

The center stage and live band performing

Caleb's performance was quite ok. This is the first wedding dinner we attend together with him as we know wedding dinner will take much longer time than our normal dinner outings.

First, I gave him a small souvenir metal box for him to play with... He grew bored after 5 minutes and I gave another one.
Ok, fine. He can knocked both box together and made some noise out of it. Few minutes later, started to bite into the box.

Bite bite until the metal box had his teeth mark. Ok, metal box session is finished.

Next, biscuit time. While he munching on his biscuit, I can eat in peace for a while.
Biscuit time also finished. Quick, I need something else before he start screaming and standing up on his baby chair.

Ok, car car time.
His yellow Enzo Ferrari. What else? Put into the mouth also lor.....

Few minutes later, "I dont want de, take back."

Once in awhile, he will stand up, swaying his body, turning his head left and right and left and right following the music rhythm. So funny when I saw him did this. People at the other table also laugh when they saw his action.

Haha...see? So messy. Water bottle, Ferrari, food container, socks....

"Now I want carry carry"

Ok, daddy carry :)

Pacat getting really bored and tired at the end. No more mood for anything else except want to sleep. Sucking fingers and rubbing eyes...

This is the card that I made to congratulate the couple. Took 2 days to complete it. It was not complicated but just that I can only do after Caleb slept each time.

Inside our message to the couple. Happily ever after...

Me and the happy bride.
And oh, my dinner dress..hak!

And I thought expensive is good....

I was so shocked when I read mummyreview's blog on how she found out Healthy Times cereal was infested with insects moment ago. You can read more here.

This is the brand that I trusted most and been feeding Caleb from the moment he started semi solid food 6 months ago. Price is definitely not cheap. For a small box of 170g, it cost RM16.50 (can last maybe for 1-2 weeks)

It was my SIL who staying in Singapore that recommend this brand to me last time. She commented on how good it was and so easy to prepare. Meals ready in a jiffy....because that time I mentioned to her on how I was so forgetful and didnt switch on the slower cooker most of the time. By the time Caleb need his porridge, opppsss.....

After I read her blog, I quickly go and inspect mine. Luckily no insects inside. But I've already throw away the hard cover packaging. Thus I cant check on the batch number and expiry date. I transfered mine into a tupperware. Well, just in case, if I got bugs picnic around my kitchen....

Mmmm...how ar? Continue or not to continue using this brand?
